“Summer of 2020”- it was when the whole world went into lockdown (COVID 19) and we got a glimpse into a different dimension of digital challenges of distance learning. New on the list were the children who were never exposed to such long duration of screentime.
The headaches, blurry vision, and tired, dry eye can be easily avoided by a simple checklist. Good ergonomics with monitor positioned at eye level at minimum 20 inches away from eye, tablets at arm’s length, adjusting glare, brightness and contrast on the screen with proper background light, not using the device 30 to 60 minutes before bedtime, avoiding use of device in a dark room and educating the parents regarding the basic “20-20-20” rule for their children.
The “20-20-20” rule:
Take 20 seconds break from near work every 20 minutes and to look at something 20 feet away.
